West of the old town of Narrikup is where you’ll find Poacher’s Ridge. This is rich, prehistoric country; a country shaped by ancient granite and the cool Southern Ocean winds. A land that bends backs, but gives back ten-fold – if you listen closely.
Lime and grapefruit juice flavours impart a minerality unique to these ancient lands. Tightly wound, the wine is dry; light to medium in body. It is a wine destined to age gracefully with cellaring.
"This tightly wound wine is all about the future and its place. Yes, it can be enjoyed now, but in 5 years time, it will be singing from the rooftops as the lime juice flavours will have deepened and the length increased. Its future is underwritten by the simultaneous release of its ’07 sibling."
– James Halliday Wine Companion April/May 2018, 100 New Notes
“Very light colour and a very restrained, delicate, reserved bouquet – talcy, almost slightly peppery, and very restrained – but not lacking intensity. It’s just that the fruit is very lean and paired-back. It could take some age well."
– Huon Hooke, January 2018
"It’s a scintillating wine. Blessed line, blessed intensity, blessed length. Lime, grapefruit, gunmetal and citrus blossom. Tremendously fresh, pure and piercing, the latter in a good way. Ripper for quality, and value."
– Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front, January 2018
"A marvellous marriage of delicacy and intensity; lime zest and crystalline acidity skip around the palate of a Peter Pan wine with another decade up its sleeve. It won a gold medal at Perth in ’08, and the judges got it right.”
